Job Description

As part of the Properties and Maintenance department, this position plays a crucial role in maintaining the aesthetic appeal and functionality of our Retirement Villages.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake general garden maintenance tasks such as mowing, edging, weeding, and pruning to ensure the upkeep of all outdoor areas.
  • Plant, cultivate, and care for gardens and lawns to enhance the overall appearance of the properties.
  • Monitor and maintain irrigation systems to ensure proper hydration of plants and lawns.
  • Carry out pest control activities as required to preserve the health and vitality of plants.
  • Support the implementation of landscaping plans to create attractive outdoor spaces that align with Meath Care's standards.
  • Operate and maintain gardening equipment and tools in a safe and efficient manner.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience and knowledge in gardening and grounds maintenance
  • Previous Aged Care experience is desirable but not essential
  • Ability to operate and maintain gardening equipment and tools
  • Understanding of seasonal planting and maintenance schedules
  • Capability to identify and address common garden pests and diseases
  • Physical fitness and stamina for outdoor work in various weather conditions
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • A genuine passion for creating and maintaining beautiful outdoor spaces
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a wider team
  • Ability to be organised and an eye for detail
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Australian Driver's License
  • A current National Police Certificate (no older than six months), and 
  • Permanent Australian working rights are essential requirements for this position.
